Website author, Tony Rodriguez, left, with timbale player from the Fania Allstars, Nicky Marrero, in Barranquitas in between tours. He was here for the Heineken Jazz Festival and played with Jimmy Bosch. Nicky's teacher was Tito Puente and he told me that he learned a lot from Tito. He autographed my timbales and gave me a few lessons!!

Criollo Jazz was an idea formed in the early 90's by Tony Rodriguez, with Willy Torres on flute, Faustino Cintron on Sax & Alfredo Vazquez on guitar. A blending of jazz, R&B, the cuatro & flute, sax & guitar. A new sound was formed. Today only Faustino and Tonyare still making up Criollo Jazz. Tony is playing solo gigs, mostly in the countryside towns of Puerto Rico. Mixing the cuatro with jazz, electric guitar with emphasis on Carlos Santana tunes, and singing Oldies but Goodies for audiences of all ages...............and when Faustino comes by to jam...Watch Out! Pure Criollo Jazz...........:)
